The difference between Facial Cupping and Body Cupping?
Facial Cups are soft silicon cups that are suctioned on to the skin creating a negative pressure which separates your 7 skin layers. The cups are not stationary. They are used to glide along the skin. To accomplish this, a generous amount of oil is applied to ensure smooth gliding and that the skin is not pulled. When applied correctly, and in the proper sequence, the movement of these cups can cause lymphatic drainage. This results in less puffiness and a toned chin, jawline, and neck. The increased blood flow also causes skin brightening and minimizes the appearance of scars. Experts say the procedure can help detoxify the skin, stimulate cell growth, and reduce fine lines, puffiness under the eyes, and dark circles. Additionally, it has been noted to help with bruxism (excessive teeth grinding or jaw clenching) which usually occurs when sleeping.
In body cupping, the cups are usually applied to a specific area for a few minutes, causing bruising. The darker the bruise, the more inflamed/stagnant that particular area is. This helps the technician see which part of the body needs to be worked on. This is generally a sports recovery modality but it also has important applications In the treatment of upper respiratory problems, edema, anxiety, and other disorders.
As we age, many of us notice a decline in our facial skin's elasticity, leading to more visible wrinkles and an overall dull appearance. While factors such as genetics, skincare habits, lifestyle choices, and environmental influences all play a role, the primary culprits behind these changes are the loss of collagen, fat, and elastin—essential elements that keep our skin looking plump, firm, and radiant. Fortunately, there are effective ways to combat these natural changes and rejuvenate your skin. At Retreatment Wellness, we facial cupping as a part of the Acupuncture Facelift treatment.
Facial cupping is an age-old therapy that draws on techniques from body cupping. While body cupping primarily alleviates muscle tension, facial cupping focuses on revitalizing your skin, helping to restore its youthful glow. During a facial cupping session, small suction cups are applied and moved strategically across your face. This gentle suction encourages improved blood and lymph circulation while separating tissue layers. The slight trauma created prompts a rush of white blood cells to the area, initiating a healing response that rejuvenates your skin. The result? Your skin receives a surge of youthful nutrients, fortifying its underlying structure and leaving you with a fresh appearance.
What’s truly remarkable about facial cupping is the range of benefits it offers:
1. **Enhanced Circulation:** It promotes oxygen-rich blood flow, revitalizing your skin.
2. **Strengthened Skin:** By reinforcing skin and connective tissues, it helps reduce sagging and achieves a firmer, tighter look.
3. **Boosted Collagen Production:** This therapy stimulates collagen, the essential protein that maintains skin plumpness and youthfulness.
The visible outcomes of these benefits include: - Brighter, more radiant skin - Toned facial contours - Reduced lines, wrinkles, and scars - Decreased puffiness - Balanced oil production Additionally, facial cupping can enhance your skin's ability to absorb nutrients, ensuring it receives the maximum benefit from your skincare products for a healthy, vibrant look.
